Hoppy Yoga at SD Breweries

By  |

People in San Diego love beer. (We’re fortunate enough to live in a city with over 100 breweries and we are known around the world for our tasty craft brews.) San Diegans are also known to love yoga (it’s almost impossible to walk down the street without passing a yoga studio or step foot on one of our beaches without seeing a yoga session). It’s no surprise that some local beer loving yogis have put together an event that combines craft beer with some morning sun salutations.

Hoppy Yoga offers yoga for all levels, including beginners, followed by an optional beer social at some of San Diego’s best breweries and tasting rooms. It’s low key and informational, and newbies don’t need to worry about feeling intimidated or shy because beer loving yogis are some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. Hoppy Yoga’s classes are geared for everyone and they’re all about having a good time, whether you’re just getting started or if you’ve been practicing for a while. A lot of first timers, visitors to San Diego, and well-practiced yogis attend these sessions. The event promotes a supportive, non-competitive atmosphere that coincides with the culture of craft beer.

Craft brewers and yogis alike are known for their collaborative spirits, so the pairing of the two worlds seems intuitive, and what better place to have a Hoppy Yoga session than in San Diego?

Hoppy Yoga began at Mission Brewery in 2013, and has since become a regular staple at craft breweries all around the city. Hoppy Yoga now hosts regular morning classes at Culture Brewing Co., Stone Brewing, and Green Flash, to name a few. Classes begin before the breweries and tasting rooms open to the public, so attendees get the first pick of the taps. The folks at Hoppy Yoga have also partnered with several local non-profits in the past to host fundraisers at their practices. What’s better than yoga, beer, and a good fundraiser to give back to the community? Keep an eye out for more fundraiser events and see the schedule of Hoppy Yoga sessions here.

The price of the session includes the craft beer at whichever brewery you choose to attend. However, the amount included varies based on the brewery. The beer is optional, should you choose to pass on the pint or flight. Beer and yoga is a perfect way to start a weekend in San Diego, especially during the summer, so grab your yoga mat and sign up for a session. Cheers!
