American Horror Story: Apocalypse Is Bringing Back Two Major Characters

By  |

Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott are making their triumphant return to the world of American Horror Story for the shows highly anticipated Murder House/Coven crossover season.

The actors played husband and wife, Ben and Vivien Harmon, in the first season which saw them move into the Murder House with their daughter Violet (Taissa Farmiga). Britton hasn’t been involved with the show since the first season, but McDermott appeared in season two (Asylum) as a different character. These returns make up two more major castings in what is going to be an exciting eighth season of Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology series.

The upcoming season titled Apocalypse will feature the promised crossover of Murder House and season three’s Coven and will feature the return of some familiar faces. Taissa Farmiga will be returning playing both her characters from season one and three alongside the entire Coven of witches including Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy and Stevie Nicks.

Jessica Lange is also set to make a big return to the series reprising her Murder House character and veteran Sarah Paulson will be playing not one, not two, but three roles this season which will include her Murder House and Coven characters. Also set to return are Evan Peters, Billie Lourd, Cheyenne Jackson, Leslie Grossman and Kathy Bates.

Since the first season, the events that occurred have been embedded into the mythology of American Horror Story throughout the seasons. Murphy has confirmed many times that every season is connected and the devil child (a child born of human and spirit will bring upon the “end of times,” as Paulson’s Murder House character warned) will have a big part to play in the Apocalypse theme and marketing.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse will premiere September 12 at 10/9c on FX.
