Going out to dinner for a romantic evening can be expensive. We rounded up some exciting ideas to do with that special someone. Take back your date nights by doing something unique. Impress your significant other by having an immediate answer to “What should we do tonight?” These ideas will for sure make for a fantastic date story later on, and an experience you won’t forget.

Paddleboarding

With summer quickly approaching, take advantage of San Diego’s gorgeous beaches and head out into the water with a couple paddleboards. Stand up paddleboarding is an awesome experience, giving a unique twist to the traditional beach date. Head over to La Jolla Cove for a great location to do it, with breathtaking views, and afterwards, there are plenty of places to grab a bite and a drink.

Indoor rock climbing

Put some adventure into your date night, and head over to an indoor rock climbing facility. You’ll get a great workout, and you can bring a little competitive spirit to see who gets to the top first.

Bowling

Whether you’re a completely awful bowler, or someone who hits strikes left and right, going out to the local bowling alley can make for a fun date night. Grab a few beers, lace up the bowling shoes, and see who comes out on top with the best score.

Drive-in movie

Movie nights are a staple for date night, but why not spice it up and head over to an drive-in movie! Bring some snacks, blankets, and pillows, and head over to the South Bay Drive In to catch the latest movies in a new and fun way.

Dollar store

Bring along five dollars each, and head over to a local dollar store. Split up once inside, and pick out five things for each other, but be sure to not let them see what you get! The items you select can be meaningful, funny, or whatever you like. Once you both purchase your items, go back to the car and do an exchange. Not only is this a fun experience, you’ll also get five souvenirs that you’ll remember for a long time.

Have a game night

Break out a few board games, crack open a nice bottle of wine, and pretend like you’re kids again by having a game night. This is a perfect option for those who want to have a low-cost date night without skimping on the fun.

Catch a beach sunset

Bring a blanket and some snacks, and head over to one of San Diego’s gorgeous beaches to catch a brilliant sunset. If you have a camera, bring it along to snap some photos of it to best remember the moment.

Stargaze

Head over to a local park, spread out some blankets, and gaze at the stars. Some of the best conversations can come from nights like these, and gazing up at the stars can simply take your breath away sometimes.

Go for a bike ride

Dust off the old bikes sitting in your garage, and head out in the evening for a sunset ride. It’ll feel great to get some fresh air, and you’ll be able to experience your city in a whole new way with that special someone.
