This Weekend in San Diego: Festivals, Yoga, and Marathons

With Thanksgiving on the horizon next week, there will be many events preceding one of the largest holidays in the United States and abroad. Some events will be nearing their conclusions while others will just be getting started.

But in case you want to attain a respite from your in-laws, then some of these could be ideal.

Here are some events that you can’t miss going into this weekend.

San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival

Where: Multiple locations in downtown San Diego

When: Nov. 14 – Nov. 20

Price: Varies depending on event

What: One of San Diego’s most renowned and highly acclaimed festivals, the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival features chief and cooking celebrities, 60 local restaurants, and 150 wineries. The annual occasion will be featuring one of their newly implemented programs from 2015 called SommCon, which provides an educational insight on wine and beer aficionados alike. This huge festival will be ending on Sunday, and it won’t be back till next year so make sure to attend while you still can.

Hoppy Yoga at Bay City Brewing Co.

Where: Bay City Brewing

When: Nov. 19

Price: $20

What: What beats celebrating with beer and a bunch of your friends? Staying in shape and burning off all of the excess calories! This is class led by Amy Freeman is just over an hour and is open to all levels of yoga prowess. So if you’re trying to chisel down on that beer belly or simply trying to make some new friends, the stop by for this casual yoga class.

Adrenalina Skateboard Marathon 2016

Where: Fiesta Island, Mission Bay

When: Nov. 20 at 6:30 a.m.

Price: $45 for adults, $25 for kids under 11

What: Sometimes, casual exercise doesn’t quite meet the threshold we need to keep our bodies in shape. If gaining too much weight is one of the paramount worries going into Thanksgiving week, then you can be rest assured that this skateboard marathon will kick you into shape. While a 26.2 mile race can be daunting to some, beginners are encouraged to skate as well. You can also bring a costume that will be entered into a contest as well. The race has a time limit of three hours to complete, so make sure to bring your helmet and pads.

Del Mar Antique Show & Sale

Where: Del Mar Fairgrounds

When: Nov. 20 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Price: $8

What: If you’re looking to treat yourself to a relaxing time while surveying the aesthetic wonders of pottery, glass, porcelain, furniture, jewelry, and more, then make sure to head over to the Del Mar Antique Show. The general admission for adults is $8 with free admittance for children. This is the last day of this event so don’t forget to bring any damaged valuables you have as the employees can repair all of the aforementioned materials and much more.
