San Diego Chargers win over 49ers in Thursday Game
After their 34-7 win over the San Francisco 49ers Thursday night, the San Diego Chargers are tied for the lead in the division. The Bolts have won two straight and with two games left the Kansas City Chiefs are the only team in the way from another division title.
Despite playing without star tight-end Antonio Gates (who hopes to be back for the playoffs), Philip Rivers and the Chargers put on their A-game and came out with a win. Gates has missed four of the past six games due to a serious foot injury.
In yesterday’s win over the 49ers, Rivers hit 19 of 25 passes for a total of 273 years, ending in three touchdown passes to Vincent Jackson. With Jackson back on the lineup after his calf injury, he’s playing like he needs to. And with away games against the Bengals and Broncos coming, Rivers, Jackson, and the entire team need to pull out all the stops to pull out wins and hopefully go all the way.
The Chargers travel to Cincinnati next week and all Charger fans will be tuning in to see the Bolts smash it again. Good news for the away games: there’s no threat of a blackout.
The San Diego Chargers have won six of the past seven games and are now 8-6. They trail Kansas City, 8-5, in the AFC West. If the Chargers win their final games and Kansas City loses one more, the Chargers will win their fifth straight AFC West title.
