Where to Go for San Diego Surf Lessons

By  |

Whether you live in San Diego or you’re just visiting, learning to surf almost feels like a rite of passage. Surfing is a major part of the culture of many small beach communities, and learning the sport has a way of making you feel like you’re a part of something greater than yourself. Surfing allows you to enjoy community, exercise, adventure, and nature all at the same time. The vast ocean and getting the hang of the sport can be intimidating though, and we don’t suggest learning on your own. Braving the waves and learning to maneuver them as you balance on a board is best done in good company with someone who is aware of safety precautions. There are a lot of locally owned surf schools in San Diego that are always ready and willing to teach the art of surfing.

Pacific Surf School

Pacific Surf School offers lessons to experienced and inexperienced surfers of all ages. With more than 40,000 students taught since 1997, Pacific Surf School is showing the world how it’s done. The trained instructors and staff guide surfers towards a safer and more talented understanding of the ocean. Pacific Surf School has flourished in the local community with merits and honors: The school was honored with San Diego’s BEST general interest and recreational school in the readers poll by the San Diego Union Tribune. Pacific Surf Schools sister school Surfer Girls was awarded Coolest Surf Camp in 2007 by the Travel Channel. With credentials like that, there is no doubt that you will enjoy your time learning to surf from the instructors at Pacific Surf School

Behind all great surf schools are talented and experienced instructors, and Surfari is no exception. Surfari’s instructors are veteran surfers with decades of surfing experience who have spent many years lifeguarding in the Greater San Diego Area. If you’re looking for a more personalized way to learn, we suggest the comfort and ease of learning with a friend. Ask a buddy who surfs to take you out and show you the ropes. You’ll be making memories and spending time with someone you already trust, and once you pop up on the board you’ll both share the excitement of your first wave.  Surf’s up!
