It’s a boy!

The San Diego Zoo unveiled its newest addition yesterday; a male panda cub born at the San Diego Zoo nearly a month ago.

The cub’s mother briefly left the den Thursday, allowing Zoo veterinarians to examine the baby panda for the first time. Head vet Geoff Pye claimed the cub is healthy and starting to show its black-and-white markings. He also stated the cub has reached its “initial cute stage” and is “very roly poly.”

The cub weighed in at 2.8-pounds. He will not receive a name until 100 days have passed, courting to Chinese tradition.
