Break out those swimming trunks, put on those sandals, and get ready for a hot one San Diego. According to forecasters, our beloved city is going to be engulfed by a brutal heat wave that is set to make record temperatures. Recent findings have predicted that inland temperatures will reach higher than 100 degrees, and desert regions are looking to set record temperatures as a result of the heat wave. What does this mean to San Diego?

Well San Diego, now is the time to enjoy the heat wave and take full advantage of the last days of summer. Hit the beach, go to a friend’s pool, have a barbecue, or even run through sprinklers. There is something undeniable about the gaze of summer that brings out the child in us. Instead of fearing this heat wave, I believe we should embrace it.

There is so much to do in San Diego that we cannot afford to pass up an opportunity like this. Even though you may work, you can say ahem…”The heat is getting to me, I can’t make it in to work today”, and take the days off so you can go enjoy the weather pool side, or beach side. Remember that you did not hear that from the Entertainer.

To me weeks like this bring me back to my childhood. The summer days where I would be sitting in my home stricken by the overbearing heat, I wouldn’t let it drag me down; instead I would imagine all the fun I was going to have with the water guns, the Marco Polo, and the water balloon wars. Those were the days, and those days are still here. Who cares if your 50, 40, 30, or 20 get out there and let the heat bring out the love of water in your life.

Even if you are stricken with time be imaginative with what you do. A bucket of water, ice-wars, popsicles costumes, there are no limits, the world is your oyster. For those of you that want to do something a little more adventurous, well here’s what you can do.

Sea World, Soak City in Chula Vista, Wave House, any beach in the San Diego area, Poway Pool, Lafayette Pool, and much more. If any place is the best place to have a heat wave, it without a doubt, has to be San Diego. Beautiful beaches, beautiful people, cold beers at every corner, great food, and just about everything you can think of goes on in our beautiful little city.

The heat wave is a blessing in disguise, its keeping that spirit of summer strong within the heart of San Diego. So let’s get wet San Diego, and show this heat wave that we welcome it rather than turn it away.
