Your Monday through Friday schedule is hectic with work and other activities that keep you busy, so when do you find time to eat? Do you drive through fast food restaurants to save time during your lunch break at work or pick up food on the way home after a long day in the office? Meal prepping can save you time, money, and will also have a healthier affect on your diet. When we prepare our food ahead of time, we can make healthy meals and can not use the excuse “I don’t have time”. Make your Sunday nights “meal prepping night” and get all your cooking out in one sitting. The most important thing about meal prepping is containers. Make sure you have enough containers in order to properly store your meals. Glass containers are preferred, because this way you can simply pop your meal into the microwave and save yourself time. Here are some ideas on what food you can meal prep, that will also taste delicious.

Chicken Burrito Bowl

Skip the usual Monday lunches at Chipotle and create your own bowl at home. Grab your containers and fill it with your choice of rice, chicken, avocado, salsa, cheese, and some lime juice. Season your chicken with garlic, butter, and lemons. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes and chop it into bite sized pieces. Next, sprinkle your toppings on top, and your meal is ready to be put in the fridge! This healthier alternative to the burrito will taste amazing, and leave you feeling full. You will have energy and be craving this meal every day for lunch at the office.

Shrimp and Pasta

Shrimp in pasta is a classic meal that is always delicious. Purchase a bag of frozen shrimp, thaw, then marinate for about 10 minutes. Season the shrimp with garlic, butter, and olive oil. Cook shrimp for 3 minutes on each side, and it’s done. Next, pour whole wheat pasta into a boiling pot. Throw some butter into the boiling water as well to add some flavor and prevent sticking. Choose from your favorite sauces whether it be alfredo or classic red sauce. Pour your pasta and shrimp into one containers, and your sauce into a another. That way your pasta doesn’t get soggy. There you have it! You have created the perfect dinner that will taste fresh and amazing.

Ground Turkey Lettuce Wrap “Tacos”

Taco Tuesday may be fun, but making your own tacos will save you money and calories. Purchase ground turkey, cheese, tomatoes, and avocado, along with butter lettuce cups. Season your turkey meat anyway you want and cook for 10-15 minutes.  When you are done cooking the meat, rinse your lettuce and fill it with delicious turkey meat. Top it off with your toppings, and you have created the perfect lettuce wrap taco.

Turkey Wraps

This simple lunch will leave you satisfied and your wallet happy. All you need is spinach tortilla wraps, cheese, tomatoes, avocado, turkey lunch meat, and pesto mayonnaise. Lay your tortilla out and spread the pesto mayonnaise on it. Lay down the lunch meat, and top it off with your tomatoes, cheese, and avocado. This meal takes under two minutes to make, and will taste amazing even after being the fridge for a couple days. Make everyone in the office jealous with your homemade wraps.

Crock Pot Recipes

The crock pot is the perfect way to make sure that you have a home cooked meal every night, with out doing any work. When you leave for work in the morning, simply put the heat on high, and throw in your roast, chicken, chili, or anything else you are craving. When you get home from a long day, your meal will be ready to be eaten. Whether it’s chicken or potatoes and veggies, a crock pot is a must-have for essential food prepping that will always leave your meal be piping hot.
