With the weekend approaching quickly, don’t wait to make your plans too late! The beautiful city of San Diego has plenty of exciting events to make the most of your weekend, so take advantage of them!

Friday, March 9th

Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch

Come check out the gorgeous rolling hills of North County, and view the stunning array of natural color at the flower fields! This year, there will be new landscaping and renovations, so it will be a new and exciting way to experience this beautiful sight, even if you’ve been before. You’ll be able to see gardens developed by San Diego Master Gardeners, walk through a sweet pea maze, and even enjoy a new picnic area. The fields are open from 9AM-6PM, and tickets are $16 for adults and $8 for children.

River Kids Discovery Days

The San Diego River Park foundation wants you to come out for a day of activity along the San Diego River. Participants will take part in community activities that will center around nature education, and include opportunities like meeting animals, planting trees, exploring a nature preserve, and many other exciting events. Kids, classes, groups, and families are all welcome. Plus, this event is free to attend!

Tequila, Tacos and Tombstones

Explore the historic deep roots of  Mexican culture in Old Town San Diego, while sampling customary cocktails and authentic Mexican cuisine from a few of the best restaurants around town. Cap the day off with a tour of the oldest graveyard in San Diego, and a trip to the infamous Whaley House.

Saturday, March 10th

Butterfly Jungle at the San Diego Zoo

Come out to experience the first day of the Butterfly Jungle exhibit at the San Diego Zoo, where the parks Hidden Jungle rainforest greenhouse is filled with 10,000 exotic butterflies of all colors and sizes. Guests will be able to walk among them, learn about them using an identification guide, and take photos with them. Maybe you’ll get lucky and a few will decide to perch on you. Either way, the experience is quite magical.

The Great Inflatable Race

This exciting obstacle course will have you running through inflatable objects as you and your friends will race to the finish line. The Great Inflatable Race hopes to bring awareness to living a healthier, more fit lifestyle in a fun way. Tickets range from $30-$50.

Hops in the Hills

This craft beer festival will taking place in the quaint area of San Elijo Hills, and will feature over 25+ breweries, a wine, and eateries. Don’t miss your chance to sample some of the best craft beer in North County. All proceeds will go towards San Elijo Elementary. Tickets range from $45-$50.

Sunday, March 11th

WSA West Coast Surf Competition – Oceanside

This event is sponsored by the Western Surfing Association, and will be free to the public! Come out and watch surfers compete to qualify for a number of upcoming events, including the U.S. Championships.

San Diego Film Week

Come check out a day of this ten-day long celebration of film in Balboa Park. Over 100 local, national, and international films will be showcased along with a wide range of other events, including parties and panels at the Museum of Photographic Arts.

Open Farm and Show

For all your animals lovers, come out and get the chance to feed, pet, and see a wide range of animals, including camels and exotic birds! Taking place at Oasis Camel Dairy in Ramona, this event will cost $8-$12.
