No June gloom this weekend, folks – the weather forecast says clear skies and sunshine all weekend long. What a wonderful way to kick off the season of summer – it’s official! The theme of this weekend: BEER. Micro-breweries all over town are releasing their summer brews, just in time to grab a growler, hang by the pool, and soak up some rays. Friday, June 8

International Boat Show

This is the premier southwest boat show and cruises into Spanish Landing Park on Harbor Island June 7 – 10 for four days of fun on the water. Grab the entire family for a festive seaside weekend on the San Diego Bay. It’s summer, now is the time to get on the water and have boating fun. More than 140 boats from entry-level family cruisers and luxury yachts, to sailboats will be on display to browse, board and buy. The Squirrels at the La Jolla Playhouse

La Jolla Playhouse kicks off its 2018/2019 season with the world premiere of The Squirrels, a twisted new comedy by Tony Award nominee Robert Askins (Hand to God), directed by 2017 Tony Award winner and La Jolla Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley. The play runs June 5 – July 8 in the Playhouse’s Mandell Weiss Forum. Get your tickets here!

Food Truck Fridays

Kick off your summer weekends in style every Friday evening at Balboa Park’s hottest after-hours event from 4-8:30 pm., visitors of all ages can enjoy live entertainment and activities for kids while eating gourmet dishes from a rotating selection of more than a dozen popular food trucks parked on the Plaza de Panama and El Prado walkway. Throughout the summer, Food Truck Fridays will present different musical performers or DJs each night in the Plaza de Panama.

San Diego County Fair

The County Fair opens this Friday at 4:00 pm the Del Mar Fairgrounds with a their candy theme “How Sweet Is It”. Over 26 days, this years fair will will feature over 1,800 live performances, livestock, fun fair rides, and food & beverages from over 400 different vendors. The fair runs through the Fourth of July but is closed Monday and Tuesdays (Except July 2-3). Get your tickets here.

PRIDE 2018 Beer Release Party

Head to Hillcrest Brewing Company as they celebrate the release of the PRIDE 2018 Collaboration Brew with Ballast Point Brewing Company, the Cucumber Lager. To show support for the LGBTQ community, Ballast teamed up with HBC in brewing it’s annual PRIDE brew for 2018. This special release with $6 pint glass specials will be going on all night long starting at 6pm. A very special limited supply of Ballast Point Rainbow Fanny Packs and HBC Rainbow Buttons will be available during the release party.

Gaslamp Sessions

The best FREE workout Downtown is coming to the Gaslamp Quarter. Join in on all of these sessions and peruse a variety of health and wellness vendors. The event will take place on Island Avenue between 4th and 5th Streets. Here is the schedule:

San Diego Festival of the Arts

This 2 day event gathers nearly 200 artists in a bay view setting of original fine art, entertainment and delicious cuisines, complemented with fine wine and craft beer as you stroll the turf of Waterfront Park. This event raises funds to support adaptive sports and recreation programs for San Diegans’ with disabilities. Tickets are just $12. Get your tickets here.

Hess Fest 8

Join Mike Hess Brewing and 25 of SoCal’s most amazing breweries (and even from further away) for HessFest 8 from 11:30am – 5pm. There will be food vendors,  3 bands at this amazing street festival in North Park to kick off Summer. Plus, they are raising money for three amazing charities: The Navy SEAL Foundation and the YMCA of San Diego and the San Diego Music Foundation. Avolution Fest

The Quartyard is bringing you this one-day event celebrating all things avocado. Enjoy live music by Wild BelleBAYNK and The Young Wild alongside insta-worthy, avocado inspired art installations and avocado centric food + drinks from 5-10 pm. This is more than an event; it is an unforgettable experience you don’t want to miss. Avoid the FOMO, buy tickets ($25) before they sell out.

Pop-up Boutique Brunch at Topside Terrace

Fashion-forward individuals, summer is approaching and so is some stylish news. Coming in June, Del Mar’s Van De Vort boutique is opening a Liberty Station outpost within the trendy Moniker General, offering fashions for free-spirited females alongside Moniker’s curated selection of men’s clothing, accessories, home goods and more. To celebrate the shop-within-a-shop partnership, both fashion houses invite you to Hotel Republic’s Topside Terrace Kitchen & Bar to experience a pop-up boutique brunch. From 10 am to 2 pm let Moniker General and Van De Vort’s stylists help you curate the perfect warm-weather wardrobe while you sip mimosas and nosh on brunchy fare during this special Topside Brunch and Fashion Pop-Up.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Horton Plaza Park, yogis of all levels are invited to gather at the epic outdoor space for a social hour equipped with a mindful vendor market, local artists, glowing body art dubbed “peace paint” and mood music. Immediately following the social hour, attendees will gather on their mats with individual noise-cancelling headphones powered by SOUND OFF™ headphones and accompanied with mood music by DJ Mango Jennings. Wonderspaces returns to San Diego this summer with fifteen new works of extraordinary art after the 2017 debut drew over sixty-six thousand visitors. The new show, titled With Creative License, opens June 8 at the B Street Pier with timed entries from 10am to 8:30pm daily. Tickets for Wonderspaces will be available on a monthly, space available basis and range from $14 to $24.

Reggae Sundays

Sundays just got a little more irie, so kick back, sip on drinks and relax to traditional and reggae-rock jams with live poolside entertainment.Two reggae acts will perform at the all day pool party, Dive, at Harrah’s Resort Southern California. Get your tickets here.

Barks, Brews & Brunch

Duck Foot Brewing is hosting a dog adoption event with Second Chance Dog Rescue, who will be at the brewery from 12-4 with plenty of Foster Dogs for adoption—stay tuned to find out which pups! Fork Yeah Food Truck is there from 12-4 with a special brunch menu while you hang with the pups, and they’ll be donating a percentage of their sales to Second Chance, too. Already have your own pup? Bring your furry friend to hang out. Plus, enjoy their newest beer release: Strawberry Blonde, available on tap for tastes and pours starting at noon.
