No June gloom here! This weekend brings sunny skies and yummy eats. The 2nd Annual Avolution Fest returns to San Diego to celebrate California’s favorite fruit – avocado! Celebrate summer at the International Boat Show happening all weekend long. Check out what else is happening this weekend in San Diego!

Friday, June 7

 Sunset Sessions at 10 Barrel

Summer is in full swing at San Diego’s 10 Barrel Brewing pub. The East Village hotspot is launching their “Sunset Sessions” this Friday. Guests can enjoy live music on the rooftop from local musicians every Friday, June through August.  Sunset Sessions are from 6-9 p.m., and guests can come early to enjoy Happy Hour ($4 beers from 3-6 p.m.) with a spectacular view of the city.

Oceanside Art Walk

Explore the exhibitions and stay for the free concert as Oceanside’s First Friday Art Walk extends into the night with the energetic and powerful live performance of The Routine—a four-piece funk, soul, and rock band that has been tearing up stages throughout the West Coast since 2013—and just added to the lineup for the new Wonderfront Festival. Music starts and cash bar opens at 7:00pm. Galleries close at 8:00pm.

World Donut Eating Championship

The No. 4-ranked competitive eater in the world, Matt Stonie and the No. 1-ranked female competitive eater in the world and No.7-ranked overall, Miki Sudo will face off at the third-annual National Donut Day World Donut-Eating Championship hosted by The Salvation Army. The event, part of a fundraising challenge for much-needed veteran services in greater Los Angeles, will take place at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 7, 2019, aboard the USS Midway, located at 910 N. Harbor Dr., San Diego, CA.

First Friday Arts District

Liberty Station’s FIRST FRIDAY in June will feature New Reveille, hailed by Rolling Stone as one of the “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know: August 2018.” This four-piece Americana band has been described as “twangy, truck-driving music that runs on classical gas.” Opening for New Reveille will be Nena Anderson. Nena’s blues-tinged Americana music and velvet voice is soulful and intimate. San Diego’s best-kept secret, Nena has earned 20 San Diego Music Award nominations (and a win) in the categories of Americana, Acoustic, Jazz, Tribute Band and New Artist.

Saturday, June 8

 Avolution Fest

The 2nd annual Avolution Fest by Chosen Foods is coming up on Saturday, June 8th  This avocado-centric music festival with live music from St Lucia, Lost Kings & Tim Legend. Avolution Fest is a one-day immersive experience celebrating all things avocado with live music, art installations, food trucks and drinks at Broadway Pier in Downtown San Diego.

Fido Fest

Stop by Town Center Community Park at 9 a.m. to enjoy live entertainment, dog shows, and discounted vaccines when you adopt a pup. Add a new member to your family this weekend and enjoy all of the fur-baby cuddles.

San Diego Festival of the Arts

Start your Saturday off at Waterfront Park at Festival of the Arts. Explore the sculptures, photography, and all of your favorite forms of art for $14. Enjoy the day with family and other fellow art-lovers.
