This weekend marks the first weekend of February, and that only means one thing: The Superbowl. Even if you aren’t that into football, San Diego is putting on quite a party to celebrate the second month of 2019.

National Watercolor Society: SCA Inspirations

Come see artist June Rubin’s watercolor “Balboa Arboretum Amaryllis” at the Oceanside Museum of Art this Friday at 11 am. There will also be other artists from the National Watercolor Society’s Southern California program. The exhibit goes until April 21.

The Red Ale Returns

The seasonal Red Ale returns to the Duck Foot Brewing Company for a limited time. Don’t miss out on the chance to bring home a growler of your favorite beer.

Y3K Happy Hour

24th Annual Youth Fishing Derby

BBQ lunch, fishing, prizes, and entertainment…need I say more? This Saturday from 6 am-noon, Lake Poway Recreation Area will be open to all who want to participate in interactive games and activities. Bring the whole family down for a morning of fishing and quality time.

5th Annual Burn Run 5K

Raise awareness for the Burn Institute and Burn Awareness week. The money raised will support burn education when it comes to prevention. Run for a good cause this Saturday at 7:15 am at De Anza Cove. Tickets start at $50.

Tocaya Organica 

La Jolla welcomes Tocaya Organica, a fresh casual concept bringing its beloved modern organic Mexican cuisine to this coastal community. To celebrate the new location, Tocaya will be hosting ‘First Round’s on Us’ all day on Saturday, February 2nd. Guests’ first two tacos are free with any purchase of a beverage, side, or entrée (upcharges apply for premium proteins).

Vinyl Junkies Record Swap

Kick off 2019 right by joining the first Vinyl Junkies Record Swap of the year. There’ll be great DJs spinning records, free pizza by Lefty’s, Discogs giveaways, a bar that’s ready to serve, and of course, thousands of records for sale.

Hungry Dog Dash 5K Run/ Walk

Come out for the 9th annual Hungry Dog Dash 5k Fun Run starting at 8 am at Liberty Station NTC Park. Tickets start at $25. Who wouldn’t want to start their Sunday off with the cutest pups in town?

For the Love of Art Brunch

Every Sunday you can check out a new artist while enjoying your delicious meal at Hotel del Coronado starting at 9:30 am. Purchase small art pieces, partake in their fresh seafood bar, and chow down on your brunch favorites. Tickets start at $98.

Whale Fest

Celebrate the whales all week long with activities at the aquarium. Learn more about the species while celebrating these beautiful sea creatures. The event starts Sunday at 10 am at Birch Aquarium at Scripps.
