Prowl the Streets This Weekend with the Alley Cat Summer Festival
The Alley Cat Summer Fest returns for the third year this weekend in El Cajon, presented by St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center and benefiting Sophie’s Gallery. The two-day ArtsAlley festival will feature everything from live music, classic cars, art shows, food vendors, wine tasting and a beer garden, all free to the public.
The event is made available thanks to the artists, businesses, restaurants and entertainment from East County and San Diego who donate their time and skills in order to support the community. This rare coming-together of generous SD citizens is what the promoters claim will “prove memorable with a unique combination of community charm and art excellence.”
The art show will be sponsored by Sophie’s Gallery & Gift Show and the Classic Car Show will be sponsored by Charger Steve. The show is open to all cars and trucks and costs $10 to enter, and includes discounts on wine-tasting tickets. The wine tasting will be from 6-9 p.m. on Friday. Tickets for this part of the event are $20 for Chamber Rotary andLeadership members and $25 for the general public.
In addition, the El Cajon Community Development Corporation will be holding a Concert on the Green featuring Sue Palmer & Her Motel Swing Orchestra.
The beer garden will also be returning, once again sponsored by the German American Societies of San Diego. And, the promoters say, “As always, the event will feature a leisurely summertime ambience, delicious food and beautiful artwork.”
Alley Cat Summer Fest takes place in downtown El Cajon and will be throughout Arts Alley, Rea Avenue, Sulzfeld and Main Street. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Friday, July 8 and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday, July 9. For more information on the event or how to sign up for the car show, visit the festival’s website.
