It’s the refreshing Southern classic cocktail that, for many, has come to signify the start of summer – mint julep. Whether you missed out on Derby Day earlier this month, or can’t get enough of this tasty libation, you can still celebrate today on National Mint Julep Day. Oceanside’s Jalisco Cantina is serving up a Triple Crown-worthy cocktail to toast to National Mint Julep Day: the Peach Mint Julep Margarita!

A beautiful marriage of the mint julep and the margarita, this Mexican-inspired twist on the staple libation will put a spring in your step for the big race with distinctive SoCal flair! Thirst-quenching and sweetly refreshing, the Peach Mint Julep Margarita is made with reposado tequila, Kentucky bourbon, peach liqueur, mint and a squeeze of lime ideal for sipping in the sunshine.

Whiskey Peach Julep Margarita

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 oz. Reposado Tequila
  • 1 oz. Kentucky Whiskey
  • 3/4 oz. Giffard Peach
  • Liqueur
  • 3/4 oz. lime juice
  • 1/2 oz. agave
  • 5 mint leaves
  • Mint Salt rim

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Combine all ingredients, along with slapped mint into cocktail shaker and shake vigorously until the shaker is frosty.
  2. Strain into a mint salt rimmed rocks glass over fresh ice.
  3. Garnish with fresh mint. Cheers!
