Discover a Hidden Cocktail Bar in a Steamer Trunk at The Bellhop Bar
December 5th is Repeal Day
Celebrate Repeal Day on December 5th to commemorate the last 83 years of drinking legally. But prohibition style cocktails and lounges still hold a certain cache. One of San Diego’s most novel nods to the prohibition era is hidden away in a retrofitted luggage trunk at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort. Handcrafted, nostalgic cocktails are being served nightly at The Bellhop Bar, on display in Cays Lounge from 5-7pm daily.
The Bellhop Bar evokes the traveler past, where travelers would pack their belongings in wardrobe trunks for extended journeys. The steamer trunk is packed with bespoke beverages stored in antique apothecary-style bottles and will be at the Loews until mid-January 2019. You can choose from local, pre-batched libations to be poured, mixed and served on demand. Additionally, a red and sparkling wine are featured.
For the cocktails, they’ve utilized homegrown sage in the “Sage Advice” cocktail – Hangar One Vodka, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur and sage leaves. Or try the “Bay Fashioned” – Angel’s Envy Rye, homemade orange syrup, Fee Bros Aztec Chocolate Bitters and orange peel.
