Sometimes you just need something to satisfy your sweet tooth, and there’s absolutely no shame in that. Thankfully, there are plenty of splendidly sweet bakeries all around San Diego that sell all kinds of treats. These are the spots too sweet to miss out on.

Le Parfait Paris – Gaslamp

A distinctly chic bakery in its own right, Le Parfait Paris welcomes its patrons with open windows, street-side patio seating, and an amazing selection of superb baked goods. Inside, the treats are displayed like valuable jewelry, and for good reason, too. They are exquisite in appearance, and one bite will tell you that carries over to the way they taste. Le Parfait Paris is known for their macarons, but you’ll also find freshly baked baguettes, pastries, and even gluten-free items.

Come On In Cafe – La Jolla

Boasting a reputation for having pretty great breakfast and coffee, Come On In Cafe is not exclusively a bakery, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have some incredible sweet treats. Every day, the pastry case here is replenished with freshly baked goods. They have an extensive selection of cakes, with some unique offerings like an Almond Apricot Pound Cake. in addition to the usual bakery fare like muffins, cookies, and scones, they also have great pie. I recommended grabbing a slice of Lemon Tart.

The Cravory – Point Loma, La Jolla & Carlsbad

If cookies are your guilty pleasure, then making a trip to The Cravory is an absolute must. Known for their delicious and inventive cookie creations, you’re going to find some truly unique treats here. With three locations in San Diego, The Cravory is every cookie lovers dream. Each cookie is baked to soft and chewy perfection, and there are so many flavors you’re going to need some time to explore the entire menu. My personal favorite is the Pancakes and Bacon cookies, blending sweet and savory to an impeccable degree.

Extraordinary Desserts – Balboa Park

With a head chef who trained at the elite Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, you know you’re going to get some seriously delicious baked goods at Extraordinary Desserts. The treats here truly live up to the name, with offerings changing day to day. Many of the desserts here incorporate fresh fruit, like the Fresh Fruit Tartlets of the Strawberry Croissant. The Banana Cream is absolutely elite, made with fresh bananas in a creamy custard topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Blackmarket Bakery – University Heights

This Southern-inspired bakery is here for all your sugar-loving, sweet treat enthusiasts. This bakeries specialties include flourless baked goods, including cookies, tarts, shortbread, and bread. They also sell savory sandwiches made from freshly baked in-house bread. Standout treats include their Flourless Almond Brownie Bites and Chocolate Almond Bread Pudding. Plus, Blackmarket Bakery has some pretty fantastic Hand-Pulled Brittle that is vegan-friendly.

Azucar – Ocean Beach

This Cuban-style patisserie offers everything from sandwiches and meat pies to decadent cakes and flakey pastries. The bakery uses French techniques on classic Cuban flavors to deliver delectable eats to Ocean Beach. Whether you’re looking for an elaborate cake for a special occasion or needing to grab a quick bite, you’re sure to have your taste buds blown away at Azucar.
