September in San Diego was one for the record books, especially when you consider our very own Film Festival and the record-breaking heat wave that still seems to be going strong. Despite the high temperature, people showed in droves to check out the San Diego Film Festival, attracting many high-profile names, even iconic filmmaker Gus Van Sant showed for a special tribute. October has a lot of competition but we have a feeling it’s going to be memorable no matter what happens and we’ll be here to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

The Gaslamp Quarter was a writhing mass of bodies during one of San Diego’s most important events, the Film Festival. Internationally recognized, the festival brought breakthrough films and their innovative creators to the people that matter the most, the fans. With a new board, the festival is gearing up to become San Diego’s very own Sundance and was expanded for the first time to include locations in La Jolla. Considering they snatched Gus Van Sant to appear at a tribute in his honor, the board seems to be doing a good job getting San Diego recognized as important and integral. Who knows? In the most recent episode of E&L TV we also sat down with Mizz Mandy, a singer, songwriter, and executive producer who lives in Southern California and who has performed in over 18 different countries. With many singles, dance remix packs, and three pop albums, Mandy is now starting a new sound that combines modernized retro with an orchestral feel, calling it “Cinematic Pop/Rock.” We talked about her music, when her new singles will drop, and how her music is meant to get your body dancing.
