This Weekend in San Diego: President’s Day Weekend Edition

With the weekend approaching quickly, don’t wait to make your plans too late! The beautiful city of San Diego has plenty of exciting events to make the most of your President’s Day weekend, so take advantage of them!

Friday, February 16th

La Jolla Kayak Cave Tour

In this guided tour, you will explore the sea cliffs and caves of La Jolla as you make your way through the Ecological Reserve. This area is filled with marine life, so you definitely won’t be alone. You can make your way to the Arch Cave, Clams’ Cave, and Sunny Jim’s Cave, all of which are incredible to see in person. Paddle time is 9 AM, and tickets are $39-$99.

Awesome Fest

Thinks three-day live music festival is perfect for anyone with a love punk music. The festival will showcase the incredible talent of over 60 different bands, displaying the intensity and beauty of the genre. Come and all kinds of bands, including Adult Magic, Globs, Iron Chic, and many more. Tickets are $35 per person, and you must be 21+ to enter.

Harlem Globetrotters

The award-winning team is coming to Valley View Casino Center, and bringing new talent with them. You’ll be able to see the debut of the Flying Gobies, an acrobatic trampoline dunk team. Come out and see incredible trick shots, comedy, and unparalleled fan interaction in a fun, family friendly environment. After the game, fans will be able get autographs from the Globetrotter stars, and take photos as well. Tickets will run from $15-$125 depending on the seats.

Saturday, February 17th

Paw Walk in the Garden

There are few things better than getting out in the morning air and taking your dog for a walk, so why not do it with some company? This 5K walk will take you through the beautiful Botanical Gardens in Encinitas. The route will have you seeing the incredible array of exotic and native plants that are on the premises. There will also be pet products, food, treats for your pups, and other fellow dog owners. If you don’t have a dog, don’t worry! You’re still encouraged to come. Tickets are $21-$32.

Cook With Your Kid: Street Tacos

Taking place at the Lazy Acres Market in Encinitas, this cooking class will teach your and your kids how to create the tastiest tacos around. You will be able to choose from a selection of protein to build your taco around. Fresh toppings will already be chopped and ready for you to create your custom taco. You’ll even learn how to make a Mexican dessert dish called Bunuelos. Tickets are $7.50-$30 and the event will start at 11 AM.

Torn Paper Collage

This unique art class will teach the techniques of paper tearing, and will have you create beautiful collages that will end up depicting gorgeous landscapes. All skill levels are welcome, and tickets will range from $52-$58

Sunday, February 18th

Allied Gardens Sunday Market

Come and check out some of the freshest produce in all of San Diego, as well as a wide range of organic food produced by local vendors. You can even grab lunch from the many artisan food vendors on site as well. The market will be open from 10am-2pm, and will take place at Lewis Middle School.

Local Brews Local Grooves

When you combine some of the finest craft brews in San Diego with the diverse sound of the local music scene, you know you’re in for a good time. With 14 bands performing and 14 breweries on site, you’re bound to find something you like. The event will take place at the House of Blues, and tickets will run you $10-$60.
