By  |

The start of a new year means everyone is gearing up to begin working on their new year resolutions. Well, if you need a really early break from chasing that resolution, then check out some of the great films and television shows being added to Netflix in January. We all know its inevitable that you’ll find yourself on your couch at one point just trying to get lost in some Netflix, so cut back on the time you usually spend looking for something to watch and check out some of these.

The Bring It On Series

Everyone’s favorite cheerleading series is coming to Netflix on January 1st. While most people have seen the first and second Bring It On films, there are actually a total of five, and all of them will be available to stream. If you’re nursing a hangover after the New Year’s Eve festivities, these could be perfect to put on. Who knows, they might even kill your hangover too.

Lethal Weapon Series

If you’re looking for a more action packed New Years morning, then look no further than the Lethal Weapon series. Alll four of the films will be available to stream the day of January 1st. These films are absolute classic action films, with legendary action stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as partners, while they tackle some of the baddest bad guys in movie history. Each film can be watched on their own, as well, if you want to.

The Godfather Series

Now this a real treat, as the Godfather films (more so I and II) are some of the best films ever created in the history of cinema, and on January 1st, all three will be available on Netflix as well. Following the story of the Corleone crime family, it is a tale of betrayal and deception, and with legendary performances by Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, it is a must-see.

The Conjuring

If I can offer one piece advice with this movie, it would be to NOT watch this one alone, unless you have no fear whatsoever. This is one of the scarier movies to have come out in recent years, and on January 8th, it will available to stream on Netflix. For those who love horror films, this one should be at the top of your list if you haven’t seen it already. If you’re thinking about throwing it on for date night, be ready to potentially embarrass yourself in front of your significant other with your screaming. But then again, you’ll have someone to hold onto for dear life, so it might be a good idea in the end.

Tom Segura: Disgraceful

One of the top up and coming comedians in the game right now, his other specials already available on Netflix are absolutely hilarious, so this one is sure to get some laughs from you. With intricate storytelling and relatable humor, this special will definitely be able to brighten your day. It will be available to stream on Netflix on January 12th.

Dallas Buyers Club

Set in mid-1980’s Texas, this film tells the story of an electrician named Ron Woodroof, and follows his life after learning he has AIDS, and has been given just 30 days to live. Teaming up with a fellow AIDS patient, they do whatever they can to seek out alternative therapies in order to save their lives and others who suffer from the same disease. With powerful performances by Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, this is another one you can’t miss.
