Puppy Bowl XII: Team Ruff vs. Team Fluff

By  |

The New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons aren’t the only teams expected to face off this weekend. The 13th ever Puppy Bowl is returning to Animal Planet this Sunday, Feb. 5. Team Ruff and Team Fluff are predicted to fight to the claw, both with All-Star starting lineups.

The Puppy Bowl originally started in 2005 opposite to the Super Bowl XXXIX and has intrigued fans ever since. It is a spin off of the biggest football game of the year featuring drooling and adorable puppies, instead of 200 lb. men tackling each other. The bowl takes place in a miniature stadium and showcases puppies from shelters all over America. The battle of Team Ruff vs. Team Fluff is not just hilarious to watch, but also raises awareness for shelters and adoption centers for puppies.

Animal Planet showcases both Starting Lineups of the puppies competing on Team Ruff and Team Fluff with pictures and information about each puppy. This year, there will be breeds ranging from Pomskys to Terriers. Also, puppies are from shelters in Florida, Iowa, and even our home in California. It will be exciting to see which pup earns the title of ‘MVP’ on each team this year.

Cat enthusiasts are not to worry because the half time show of the Puppy Bowl will be featuring a ‘purr-fect’ pop sensation. The feline musical group Chicago Rock Cats with Kitty Gaga, will be singing “Puparazzi.” The talented cats in the halftime show are also from shelters around America.

If you want a sneak peak of the Puppy Bowl you can watch the virtual reality Pups Eye View feature on the Animal Planet website. There is also a Pup Close and Personal feature, which allows you to read about the background stories of the puppies playing in the Bowl.
