Gadget lovers from all over have been patiently awaiting the arrival of the iPhone 4, and the wait is finally over. The i4 device was unveiled three weeks ago to the WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference). The phone can be purchased starting Thursday, June 24, but many began placing advanced orders for the phone weeks ago.

The chances of getting your hands on the new iPhone Thursday are very rare. AT&T and Apple quickly had to stop pre-ordering of the phone because of the high momentum. Within the first 24 hours 600,000  iPhone 4’s had been ordered. Anyone that reserved an iPhone 4 prior to AT&T and Apple’s temporary hold on ordering will get theirs on time, but those that waited can order the phone now and wont receive the device until July 14.

Close to a year after the release of the iPhone 3GS in 2009, the 4th generation of the iPhone has raised the bar for phone technology. Something that has never been offered or even seen in a phone is face to face phone calls. The i4 has a web cam on the front screen, making it possible for other iPhone 4 users to communicate while watching each other.

The shape of the phone is also much different than previous models. The i4 now has a more rectangular shape from the side with circular buttons and is offered in white or black. The resolution of the phone has almost doubled in quality with a 960 by 640 resolution.

Reviewers of the phone cannot stop gushing about it. However, many people have been voicing their frustrations due to the news that the white version of the i4 wont be available until the second half of July.

Although the new iPhone shares many of the same features, there have been major technological advancements made from the old version. It ranked second next to the iPad for fastest software. The camera is now 5 megapixels compared to the previous 3 and now has an LED flash. Also never seen in a phone before is HD video recording.

For those that love to use their phone throughout the day and not worry about battery life will be pleased to find out that the i4 offers a battery life that lasts a few hours longer than the 3GS.

The iPhone 4 is sure to take the lead in the war of the smartphone’s, with it’s high-tech new software, creative innovations and high quality features. It can be purchased through AT&T, Apple, Best Buy, Wal-Mart or Radio Shack for $199 for a 16GB and $299 for the 32 GB.

AT&T announced on Tuesday that their retail locations would not be selling the new iPhone to walk-in’s until June 29.
