It’s that time of year again. The time where all the crazy fans of Americans come to audition their singing talents (and often no talents) for their spot of fame on the famous American Idol show. The show will be holding auditions here in San Diego for their 11th season.

So if you’ve been dying to try out for what is known as one of the hottest shows in America come on down to Petco Park, a nice step up from where it was held last time in 2007 at Qualcomm Stadium. Giving tourists the opportunity to explore downtown San Diego after they have auditioned.

However, to audition for the show requires a two-step process. In order to audition, contestants are required to register one of the two days that precede the audition itself. The registration process will be held on Wednesday, July 6th, and Thursday, July 7th. That’s only a week away. Then the audition itself will be held on Friday, July 8th, 2011. According to the official American Idol site, more specific details such as the time will be available soon. In order to register, eligible contests are required to be at the ages of 15 to 28 as of June 26th, 2011.

According to 10 News San Diego, they also have to show proof of their eligibility to work in the United States; and cannot have any previous recording or any other entertainment contracts and connections with Fox Television or a group of firms “known as the 19 Companies.” Upon arrival at the registration venue, the contestant is REQUIRED to bring two forms of ID that show their proof of age and a photograph, such as a driver’s license and birth certificate, or a birth certificate and a school ID card, etc. Once the contestant is proven eligible they will be given a wristband and a seat ticket. They are allowed to have one person accompany them, but only one. The person must be present during registration so that they are given a seat and wristband as well. Kids at 5 years of age or younger will not be allowed at the audition venue.

The contestant is only required to show up for one registration day, either July 6th or 7th, and not both before the audition day. Do NOT remove the wristband, because otherwise it will be null and void. Plus the wristband will have time instructions on when their audition will be. Arrive by 5am on the audition day itself with their wristband, ticket, signed forms, and the two forms of ID. More instructions, such as what items are prohibited at the auditions, FAQs, forms, Rules, etc. can be found on the website.

The audition tour began yesterday on June 28th in St. Louis and will be making other stops in the following cities: San Diego, Portland, Pittsburgh, Charleston, Denver, and Houston. Contestants will be allowed to audition in more than one city. However, cities, venues, and dates are subject to change.
