Local clothing boutique celebrates 10 years in Del Mar

Shopping in any North County coastal city is an experience. The co-owner Staci Wax-Vanderwiel explains that she opened the store, Del Mar Kids, 10 years ago to meet the growing need for fashionable children’s clothes. Having young children of her own, the store grew out of her own necessity. And as her customer base grew in age, so did the store. They continued to expand the store as the children who once shopped Del Mar Kids grew into adolescents and young adults. Today this family run business supports not only kids’ fashions at Del Mar Kids, but also supplies the greatest trends for teens and adults through the adjoining store, The Back Room.

This past July Del Mar Kids and The Back Room invited San Diego to indulge in a night of shopping, featuring exclusive styles and discounts from The Back Room’s most notable designers including Gypsy 05, Julez Bryant, Joie, Tart and James Jeans. Raffles prizes and gift bags were provided to customers and delicious  appetizers, wine and champaign were served as DJ Andrew Miller was spinning the tunes up front.

“We wanted to thank the customers for their support,” Staci told the Entertainer. And that they did. For Stacy fashion and retail has always been a part of her life — it’s a family business. This was no more apparent than at their 10th anniversary celebration in July. The store was filled with shoppers from around the county as well as family and friends. Staci works closely with her sister, Amy Wax to make sure no detail is left untouched; their attentiveness and passion for fashion really shows through in the atmosphere of the store. The store is fun to shop in and has a wide array of styles to choose from that will leave any fashion forward shopper in awe. You can find just about anything you need.
