This Weekend in San Diego: Concerts, Cage Fighting, and Cold Beers

Cruise around the county this weekend to the cornucopia of events in San Diego. From concerts by the Dave Matthews Band and Weezer to beer tastings and MMA matches, surely there is fun to be had by everyone.

Thursday, August 19

Take a trip to the tropics and bring the kiddies too at the Kick Off Party for the Tiki Oasis 10 Extravaganza! The weekend celebration starts off at Bali Hai Restaurant with a free public event featuring DJs rocking the house and outdoor performances by King Kukulele, Sultry Savage Burlesque, and the Tikiyaki Orchestra. Plus: don’t miss out on the special guest Marina the Fire-Eating Mermaid!

Experience San Diego Nightlife with EDM at FLUXX as German DJ/musician ATB takes the stage along with Josh Gallahan & Cowboy Mike. Dance the night away to ATB’s UK chart topper “9PM (Till I Come)” and many of the hottest trance and electronica tracks. So get down to the Gaslamp and get your groove on.

Friday, August 20

End the work week roaring cage side at 4th & B’s Epic Fighting Event inthe Gaslamp District. Tickets are only $30 to witness men go head-to-head in a live mixed martial arts battle. The doors open at 6pm and the fights starts at 7pm, so don’t miss out!

Just want to mellow out to some music? Head down to the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Chula Vista to enjoy the eclectic sound of The Dave Matthews Band with Brett Dennen. Or just chill out poolside at Crowne Plaza as the Tiki Extravaganza 10 continues with DJs spinning throughout the day and a Bathing Beauties Fashion Show with live music by Jason Lee and the R.I.P Tides.

Saturday, August 21

Grab a brew at CSU San Marcos as the Stone Brewing Co. celebrates its 14th Anniversary with an Invitational Beer Festival. Try ales, stouts, and lagers from around the world. Tickets are only $40 for admission to one of the two 3-hour tasting sessions where you get to taste 10 beers from over 40 different local and international breweries. Samples of Mike’s world-famous Beer Cheese and the Society of Barley Engineers homebrewed sodas are also provided, so get ready for some gluttony.

Music mania continues with Weezer performing at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, Thriving Ivory with Ryan Star at Anthology, and America’s Next Big Hit Showcase featuring Lloyd Banks of G-Unit at 4th & B.

Sunday, August 22

End the weekend right as the Kyle Van Band play a free event at the Coronado Ferry Landing from 2-5pm as part of their Summer Concert Series.

Check out the Uke Jam session as the Tiki Oasis Extravaganza 10 celebration winds down after a weekend of fun events and activities. The event is free and open to all skill levels. Coconut bras and grass skirts optional.
