Trust Restaurant’s Spicy Spin on a Whiskey Sour

By  |

The San Diego Entertainer Magazine is back again working with the area’s best mixologists to provide our readers with the latest trends in specialty cocktails and tasty drinks. We thrive on the idea of making specialty cocktails at home for your friends and family. With Cinco de Mayo approaching, we’ve found a spicy drink fit for the season this Thursday.

Juan Sanchez met with us yet again to demonstrate Trust Restaurant’s take on a Whiskey Sour, The Trust Cocktail #7. Sanchez demonstrates the drink using Meyer Lemonade, Pear Simple Syrup and Makers 46 Bourbon Whiskey. The Makers 46 is a twist on Makers Mark, however Juan explains that it’s aged longer and in charred oak barrels to give the drink a spicy flavor profile.

In the video below, Sanchez clearly walks you through the simple steps of this easy to make cocktail. We recommend that you go to Trust for the full experience, but these easy steps definitely make it possible to make it at home.

In addition to being easy-to-make, this drink is perfect for Cinco de Mayo with it’s vibrant orange color and spicy flavor.  Garnished with an elegant orange peel, this vibrant drink would be the perfect drink to entertain friends and family on a Taco Tuesday or a weekend BBQ. The Trust #7 is perfect for those who love whiskey but want a fruity spin on their drink.

Give this new concoction a try at home with the recipe below or head to Trust Restaurant to have it made for you on a night out. Want some more recipes to try?
