Our Favorite Restaurants in the Gaslamp Quarter

By  |

The historic Gaslamp Quarter is a part of San Diego that is known for its shopping, restaurants, and clubs. So much life is shoved into this little neighborhood that it’s almost impossible to have a bad time when you’re here. People come out to the Gaslamp for a lot of different reasons. Visiting families usually stop by to check out the downtown scene and snag some souvenirs. After 5pm, San Diegans who work downtown will stop in to their favorite watering hole for a beer or two. On the weekends, the club and party scene is a big draw for 20 somethings looking to have a good time. No matter your reason for journeying to the Gaslamp, one thing is for sure: You will find a lot of good food options. Here’s a few of our favorites:

Searsucker

“Searsucker isn’t a place to get away; it’s a place to get together.” That’s the motto here, so it’s no surprise that the atmosphere is friendly and the plates are designed for sharing. Work your way through the menu with your friends by starting with something from the ‘smalls,’ like the egg + bacon “pork belly.” Select from savory dinner entrées from categories like ‘ocean,’ ‘ranch,’ and ‘farm.’ Finish off with a decadent dessert or another cocktail such as the famous Peter Rabbit.

Barleymash

Barleymash is the downtown place-to-be for locals and tourists alike. Set amidst reclaimed wood from the original foundation and a warm modernist design, the restaurant and bar support San Diego’s best micro- and nano-breweries. The garage-door style windows open up the interior space to the Gaslamp’s sunny disposition. And, rooted in the idea that we are a community, three large communal tables foster a sense of gathering where deliciously innovative food, conversation and drink can be shared amongst friends and neighbors.

Only top-of-the-catch fish from the world’s most reputable suppliers is served here, and each dish is carefully crafted to ensure the restaurant’s high standards of quality and flavor.
