It’s a New Year, San Diego! Why not start off 2010 with some taste and class? San Diego Restaurant Week is almost upon us…

Be sure to experience the fine dining of San Diego’s best restaurants starting this Sunday, January 17th, until Friday the 22nd. Enjoy an extraordinary 3-course meal for as little as $20 per person. Depending on the restaurant, prices range from $20, $30 or $40 per person. With a discount like that, you and your family, friends, or significant other can finally discover the trendy and delicious restaurants that San Diego has to offer.

Over 200 restaurants all over the county are participating. And just because the prices are so cheap doesn’t mean the quality will suffer, as many restaurants are offering their most popular dishes. Whether you prefer steak, seafood, sushi, Italian, Hawaiian (the list goes on…), there is certainly a restaurant to whet your appetite. Click here to check out this year’s restaurant list.

Restaurant week, San Diego County’s largest and most successful dining event, is organized by the California Restaurant Association and the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau. This annual event, now in its sixth year, works to spotlight the city of San Diego as a premiere fine dining locale. The participating restaurants also benefit with a boost in business—last year more than 100,000 diners took part in the event, helping the select restaurants receive up to an 80 and 90 percent increases in sales (compared to their normal weekly revenue). Additionally, the event helps to raise funds for the California Restaurant Association, which donates thousands of dollars each year to scholarships and educational programs.

How can you partake in the festivities of Restaurant week? You don’t need to purchase any passes, tickets or coupons. Simply show up to the participating restaurant of your choice during the week. It is strongly recommended that you make reservations beforehand by calling that restaurant directly. However, walk-ins are welcome and appreciated, although there is no guarantee you will be accommodated.

San Diego, don’t let your palate miss out on this great opportunity to eat at your favorite restaurant, or to try out a new one for a fabulous, once-a-year price!
