Ciro’s Pizzeria and Beer House Opens New Location in Pacific Beach

Beer, check.  Pizza, check. TVs, check.  Hot bartenders, check.

It already looks like Ciro’s Pizzeria and Beer House in Pacific Beach has everything you need for a chill day at the beach. Their sports pub atmosphere is combined with an array of draft beers making this a welcoming spot for the hungry beach-goer.

The first thing you see when you walk in to this down-to-earth restaurant is a glass case filled with a variety of New York style pizza options from classic pepperoni and veggie to gourmet options like BBQ Chicken, White Spinach and Chicken Pesto.

Ciro’s was buzzing even on a Tuesday night, with photographers flying around camera-in-hand, and hungry patrons frequenting in and out.

The Entertainer Magazine was taken care of by the co-owner of this Ciro’s location, Kenny Casciato, who introduced us to their craft beer selection.  They have 22 beers on draft, not including the 34 other bottled beers.  I had a Hoegaarden Belgian white ale and also tried the Sofie farmhouse ale.  Ciro’s also has a Beer of the Month feature highlighting Ballast Point’s yellowtail pale ale for April.

For appetizers, we tried the garlic knots dipped in marinara sauce.  They have a huge pile of them sitting atop the pizza case just waiting to be devoured.  They were warm, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.  We were also given “Philly fries.”  These aren’t you typical french fries.  They are crinkle cut, crispy potatoes sprinkled with Old Bay seasoning that gives them a Cajun flare.  The best part is the side of melted American cheese that comes with the Philly fries, making this appetizer a perfect pairing with…

Philly Cheese steaks.  We tried “the aristocrat” sandwich, a specialty Philly stuffed with moist, tender beef, grilled onions and mushrooms, and melted provolone cheese.  It would not be a Philly without the signature amoroso roll that they bring in straight from Philadelphia.

Next, we had different types of Stromboli.  The House Stromboli reminded me of a supreme pizza rolled in dough and served with marinara sauce on the side.  It was filled with pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onions, salami and mozzarella.  It was the Veggie Stromboli that knocked me off my feet.  It was so flavorful with a garlicy, salty, crispy outside and soft doughy inside filled with broccoli, spinach, mushroom, eggplant, garlic and mozzarella cheese.   This is the most memorable dish, and one I will be coming back for soon.

“I will definitely be coming back” says San Diego local Lisa, 23. “This place is perfect for watching a game and having beer with friends.”

They also have a happy hour menu that will fill you up good.  Every day from 3-6pm, patrons can get $2 slices, $2 bud light drafts and $4 drafts of Port Brewing’s Wipe Out IPA.

Turns out, wheat beer tastes amazing when paired with a slice of crispy, thin crust pizza.

Whether you come out to Ciro’s for a beer, a slice to go, to watch the game, or to just chill with friends, you won’t be disappointed.

This new Ciro’s is just two blocks from the beach and centrally located on Garnet near other bars and shops.  The high-quality food paired with amazing draft beer makes this Ciro’s location a great place to chill and enjoy yourself.
