Mark your calendars! On Sunday, September 13th, at North Beach in beautiful Del Mar, man’s best friend will be hanging four paws for the fourth annual Surf Dog Surf-a-thon.

There is something about seeing a dog on a surfboard that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The human surfers participating in this event will lock in pledges for each wave that they, and their little furry companion, will catch. Surfers are encouraged to get their friends and family to sponsor them with a pledge per wave. They will estimate the number of waves they think they will be able to catch, and will raise money by the number of waves they catch in a half hour.

The Surf Dog Surf-a-thon makes for a great day at the beach for the family, surfers, and dog lovers alike. This event will help raise awareness and money for orphaned pets while encouraging responsible pet ownership.

There will also be about 40 vendors attending the event selling everything you need to enjoy the beach and relax along with food and an opportunity drawing.

All funds raised will be used to support the the programs at the Helen Woodward Animal Center.
