Whale Watching in San Diego

California Gray Whales undergo their annual migration from Alaska through San Diego and onto Baja California. During December through April, whale watching in San Diego is at its peak because the whales migrate close to shore and can be seen from land or sea. February is the month to see these majestic animals up close and will be an unforgettable experience you can partake in this weekend.

Exploring the San Diego Tide Pools is an activity you can enjoy solo, with kids, with your best friend, or significant other. From February 6th to 12th and the 23rd to the 28th,  the low tide conditions will be perfect to view the tides. Fortunately, fall and winter are the best times to explore the San Diego tide pools and it’s free in most locations. Some recommended tide pools are Tourmaline Surfing Park, False Point and Dike Rock Beach in La Jolla, and Swami’s State Beach.

On Saturday February 11th and 26th,  Naturalists from Scripps Birch Aquarium will help you discover inhabitants of the tidepools in La Jolla and will only cost $16 per person. You can make a reservation for this interactive experience at Tidepooling Adventures.
