Michael Jordan set to marry long-time girlfriend Yvette Prieto

It was a memorable Christmas this year for basketball legend Michael Jordan and girlfriend of three years Yvette Pieto.  The former Chicago Bulls MVP, 48, proposed on Christmas day to the 32 year-old Cuban-American Super model, according to The Associated Press.  The happy couple was officially engaged before the holiday weekend was over.

This will be Jordan’s second marriage, following his first to Juanita Vanoy from 1989 and 2006.  He has three children with Vanoy: two sons named Jeffery Michael and Marcus James and a daughter named Jasmine.

Though no date has yet been fixed for the wedding, it has been rumored that the date will be announced soon and that the wedding may happen even within just a few months.

Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt sing New Years’s Eve Duet

There are few Hollywood couples these days that can still make you  tilt your head to one side and gush: Aww. Among these rarities -Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, most noted for their on-screen romance in the 2009 bittersweet rom-com 500 Days of Summer.

The two friends have reunited to record a low-budget YouTube video singing their acoustic version of composer Frank Loesser’s 1947 “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve” (see above video).  They sit in what appears to be a cozy living room, dressed in outfits that emanate classic chic -Deschanel in a silver sleeveless dress and tiara, Gordon-Levitt in a dapper black suit and skinny tie.

In the description of the video, Zooey Deschanel, currently starring in television sitcom “New Girl” and singing in musical side project “She & Him”, writes that she and Gordon-Levitt, currently working on the upcoming Batman movie “The Dark Night Rises,” have been friends since they met in 2000 while filming “Manic.”  There, the two actors bonded over a mutual appreciation for Harry Nilsson and Nina Simone, writes Deschanel.

“When we did ‘500 Days of Summer’ eight years later, we spent every lunch hour dancing to Marvin Gaye in the hair and makeup trailer.  We had loads of fun.  I hope to do a thousand more movies with him because he’s simply the best,” said Deschanel.

The two-minute YouTube video, posted on Wednesday Dec 28, has already reached over 2.5 million views.  Both Deschanel and Gordon-Levitt have recorded a number of other musical covers, but their rendition of “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” is just in time for 2012.
