All Female “Lord of the Flies” Cast
Gender flipped reboots have gained popularity over the years, and although some of them have been very successful, other have not done well on the big screen. A remake of Lord of the Flies is in the making, and it is following the gender flip trend by having an all female cast. It will be based on the classic book by William Golding about a group of boys who are stranded on an island.
Scott McGehee and David Siege are directing and writing the female version of Lord of the Flies.
“We want to do a very faithful but contemporized adaptation of the book, but our idea was to do it with all girls rather than boys,” Siegel said to Deadline.
However, a cast filled with girls rather than boys poses a major conflict of interest. In fact, Golding noted the importance of boys playing the roles in an introduction for the Flies audio book.
“I think women are foolish to pretend they are equal to men. They are far superior and always have been,” Golding said.
Also, many fans of the classic book are taking to social media to display their confusion. One tweeter even said, “uhm lord of the flies is about the replication of systemic masculine toxicity,” he posted. “Every 9th grader knows this u can read about it on sparknotes.”

Clearly, Lord of the Flies, and especially the two directors who wrote the adaptation, are already in the line of fire even though the film isn’t out yet.
