Motivational Minute: Positivity

By  |

By changing your inner conversation, you can change your outer circumstance.

In this week’s Motivational Minute, motivational speaker and author Vince Reardon, explains how positive self-talk can lead to meaningful changes in your life.

Numerous psychological studies show that positive self-talk helps people think more positively about themselves, and promote self-change. Specifically, these studies show that if you change your inner conversation, you can change your outer circumstance.

So what can you do more positively? Here are three tips:

  1. Compose a mantra. For example, if you work in sales and you’ve been prospecting several big clients for weeks, throughout the day you should say to yourself, “I’m a winner, I work hard, and I’m closing a big deal today.”
  2. Visualize your goal. There’s a sales competition in the office and the top performers are going to Maui for a week. Don’t simply have a goal, visualize the goal. Cut out pictures of Maui and post them in your office area.
  3. Externalize positve self-talk. Write and record your own motivational talk and listen to it throughout the day. Talk yourself into reaching your goals.

Over the next several months Vince Reardon will share his wisdom with us all in a two-part video series. The first is The Motivational Minute and the second is Insider Tips from The Pocket Mentor, which will air on Thursdays.
