Treats for People and Pups Debut at Hotel Indigo’s Yappy Hour

By  |

If you’re looking for a pet-friendly way to cool down or fuel up before July 6th’s Bark at the Park-themed Padres game, then look no further.

Hotel Indigo San Diego, located in downtown SD’s historic Gaslamp Quarter, is debuting a canine-inclusive event next Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Table 509 Bar & Kitchen, located on the hotel’s first floor.

Featuring specialty cocktails, food offerings, and giveaways, Yappy Hour will take place a short walk from Petco Park and aims to provide fans a venue to prepare for the 6th’s Padres game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, particularly if they’ve got tickets to the MLB’s Bark at the Park theme event. Offering a way for pet owners to bring their furry friends to enjoy a baseball game, July 6th’s Bark at the Park has already sold out — but Yappy Hour has not. No ticket is necessary to attend Yappy Hour, and one does not need to be a pet owner or have tickets to Bark at the Park to partake.

However, if you are lucky enough to be a parent to one of man’s best friends, they are encouraged to come along. Yappy Hour will include dog-themed giveaways of items such as bowls, leashes, bandanas, and toys while supplies last, and the bar will serve complimentary “Tail Wagger” creations — pumpkin puree pup cups topped with Milk Bone garnishes — so that pups can drink alongside their owners.

Yappy Hour will also have plenty of drinks of the human persuasion, such as the $10 “Salty Dog” and “Toto’s Punch,” while the “Booze Hound” and the “Red Rover” will set you back $12 apiece. Made with huckleberry-infused vodka or LALO Blanco, respectively, these drinks are specialty creations unique to Yappy Hour, so be sure to stop by if they sound appealing.

Hotel Indigo, the host of Yappy Hour, happens to be a pet-friendly hotel, making the event all the more appropriate. Opened in 2009, the Hotel has become a recognizable part of the Gaslamp Quarter and sits at the heart of downtown San Diego, making it an ideal location for anyone hoping to grab a drink before or after exploring the city. Though Yappy Hour seems to be a one-time event at the present it could return before any future Bark at the Park events, so those hoping to participate should keep their eyes peeled for any further news.
