Matt Nathanson and Gavin DeGraw to Drop By Humphrey’s on Father’s Day

As the San Diego weather begins to mellow (even more), it always causes me to look at the Humphrey’s lineup once again. That’s because there’s just something special about that place, and while typically, many of the choice tickets are gobbled up early, often one can find some good-to-great seats (there really are no bad ones) for great shows by just checking periodically.

Sunday, June 15 at 7:00 is one such example of where it pays to keep a lookout at Humphreys’ lineup. That’s because, two of my favorite Pandora Radio Station players, Matt Nathanson and Gavin DeGraw are making an appearance there. And yes, there are tickets available.

For those not familiar, multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated recording artists Gavin DeGraw and acclaimed singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson, are both coming off recent Platinum albums.

Matt NathansonMatt Nathanson has long been a personal and fan favorite. His songwriting has been described (by me) as vivid. He has a unique way of drawing people into his stories. The melodies hook you in and stay in your head, which in this case is a good thing. And colleagues of mine who I trust (because they use the term “album”) have raved about his live shows. His latest album Last Of The Great Pretenders has been hailed by several music and entertainment publications and of course this Magazine. The album features the song Heart Starts, the catchy theme to Lifetime’s Series Celebrity Bucket List of which Nathanson was recently featured. Nathanson has long been a television darling, with either him or his songs appearing on some of the hottest shows on TV, including NCIS, Private Practice, One Tree Hill, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and Ellen just to name a few. Two more of his hits are Come and Get Higher and Faster.

degrawAs far as DeGraw is concerned, concert attendees can expect to hear DeGraw perform songs from his acclaimed fourth studio album, Make A Move, including the hit single, Best I Ever Had and his latest smash single, Make A Move. The album has garnered rave reviews since its October 15, 2013 release with People Magazine describing the album’s first single Best I Ever Had as, “…the kind of switch-up that brings fresh energy.” Entertainment Weekly raved about DeGraw’s, “intricate seductive, gravelly voice…” But don’t believe me; go check out both songs online and you’ll see for yourself. DeGraw, too, has had his music featured on several television shows, including The Sharon Osbourne Show, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and more.

Seattle-based singer/songwriter Mary Lambert opens.
