5 of the Best Places to Enjoy the World Cup in San Diego
San Diego’s bars and restaurants offer a myriad of ways to enjoy the coming semifinals.
As the World Cup kicks into high gear for the final four, San Diegan soccer fans have a variety of venues available to catch this week’s games. Many of the best options among San Diego’s vibrant neighborhood pub and restaurant scene have already been showing this year’s World Cup, but the excitement is sure to reach an entirely new level as the tournament zeroes in on a victor. Though San Diego has countless excellent choices for anyone hoping for a vibrant and communal experience, the following five are some of the best options out there.
- Del’s Hideout
Situated just a stone’s throw away from SDSU, Del’s Hideout specializes in Texas-style barbeque and caters especially to a sports-loving clientele, making it the perfect venue to enjoy the remainder of the World Cup. Del’s boasts 16 flat screen TVs – perfect for viewing the game no matter where you sit – and is offering a World Cup-themed deal with game day drink specials, shots, and beers. That same special is available at several restaurants throughout San Diego under the auspices of the Cohn Restaurant Group, so if barbeque isn’t exactly your style, you could instead head over to Draft Republic, Coaster Saloon, or Pacific Social. No matter which one you choose, you’re sure to pick a great place to view the game.
- The Shakespeare Pub
Voted the number one sports bar in America by Yelp 2026, San Diego’s Shakespeare Pub serves excellent British pub cuisine made from scratch. Of particular note is their fish and chips, which has been voted San Diego’s Best Fish and Chips twelve years running by People’s Choice. This fantastic spot between Mission Hills and Old Town is perfect for any England fans looking for a taste that matches their favorite team. The Shakespeare has been closely attuned to the World Cup, as attested to by their website page dedicated to the schedule of games.
- Bluefoot Bar and Lounge
Unique in that it encourages guests to bring in food from neighboring restaurants, Bluefoot is a favorite of soccer fans (evidenced by the fact that it was voted one of the Top 10 Soccer Bars in the Country by Men in Blazers). With 11 TVs and a large patio, this North Park establishment is especially excellent for World Cup viewing thanks to its giveaways and daily drink specials, which it offers in partnership with Truly, Modelo, and Michelob Ultra.
- O’Brien’s
One of San Diego’s oldest craft beer bars, O’Brien’s has the honor of being named the nation’s best beer bar by USA Today. It prides itself particularly on its rare brews from around the world, meaning that there’s something suited to anyone’s taste. O’Brien’s is also distinguished by being the home of the home of the San Diego chapter of the official U.S. National team fan organization. Unfortunately, with the U.S. not playing in the semifinals, many fans here will have to find someone else to cheer for.
- Princess Pub and Grille
Situated in Little Italy, the owners of the Princess hail from Liverpool, meaning that they’re sure to be strong supporters of England in the coming days. Much like the Shakespeare Pub, the Princess offers top-notch British cuisine and a hub for England fans, though of course all other World Cup enthusiasts are welcome. There’s room for all on the Princess’s three patios, and their eighteen taps will ensure that every palate is catered to.
Of course, there’s dozens of places throughout this beautiful city where one might enjoy the World Cup – including at home! But if you’re looking for a community of like-minded people, an electric atmosphere during the final minutes of a game, and some delicious food and drink to buoy you along as you watch, then you can’t go wrong with our suggestions above.
