Islands Restaurant offers more than burgers

By  |

logo_islandsIslands Restaurant is known for their great selection of burgers, relaxed islander atmosphere, and tasty cocktails. While those reasons are enough to get you in the tiki hut, don’t forget they also feature seasonal menu items.

If you visited Island’s Restaurant this past holiday season hopefully you experienced their delicious, carefully crafted coffee drinks. We’re not talking about your typical Caramel Macchiato Latte. Islands offered three festive holiday drinks spiked with alcohol.  The San Diego Entertainer had the luxury of experiencing all three, in moderation of course, and we definitely had a favorite. The three holiday drinks included:

photo 1 Calypso Coffee:  Myer’s Rum, Tia Maria liqueur, Lion coffee topped with cream and allspice.

Irish Coffee: Jameson Irish Whiskey, crushed cubed sugar and Lion coffee finished with whipped cream.

Cocomo Coffee: Baileys, Patron XO Cafe, chocolate syrup and Lion coffee garnished with whipped cream and coco.

All three were delicious, some stronger than others but a great way to warm up your tummy and get your day started off with a smile. The Irish Coffee and the Cocomo Coffee are a great choice for those who really want a kick in their coffee, and morning. The sweetest was the Calypso and the favorite of the three. To compliment the coffee it was paired with their mouth watering Chocolate Lava- Fudge Brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, roasted almonds and who can forget a cherry on top.

If you didn’t get a chance to taste these tasty seasonal drinks don’t worry Islands always offers great seasonal menu items.  If you’re dying to try one of these fantastic creations and you don’t see it on the menu, perhaps you can sweet talk your way into having them create one specially for you! We can’t wait to see what Islands has to offer next time, in the meantime we’ll enjoy eating their infamous burgers and French fries.

There are currently ten Islands Restaurant locations in San Diego to choose from. Check out their website for locations and details of their menu here.
