Islands Restaurant Brings More Healthy Options and New Cocktails to Menu

By  |

Islands Restaurant has been serving up great burgers for decades, and have recently made some great additions to their menu, offering more options from healthier alternatives, to dynamic and interesting cocktails, and in the last few year, they’ve even been brewing their own beer.

Manager of the Mission Valley location explained that they’ll even be opening their doors earlier on Sundays to cater to the football crowd. So with the Chargers game on Sunday, if you’re still looking for a place to catch the game, you may want to consider Islands if you haven’t before. They’ve got a ton of TVs around the restaurant and great food to boot.

Football and beer go great together, and Islands has a solid selection of bottles, beer on tap, and their own microbrews from an Islands IPA, and a tasty brown ale that will definitely step up your game from the “usual” beer selection.

Aside from beer, there are definitely burgers. Good burgers topped with fried onions, bacon, avocado, and more. The selection is incredible. If you’re looking for a slightly more figure-friendly option there’s a great new alternative called the Beach Bowl. It’s filled with brown rice, grilled chicken and topped with grilled pineapple, bell peppers, snow peas, water chestnuts, red onion, and broccoli in a sweet and savory hoisin sauce.

Other new additions include the Point Break Sliders as well as some delicious new cocktails. For a lower calorie cocktail, try the Paradise Mai Tai — it’s made with fresh lime juice and a special tropical mix for a lower calorie count (only 149 calories in a large glass). The Jager Bay cocktail is a sweet one, which mixes Jägermeister, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum & pineapple juice.  For a more manly beverage (or for the girls that like their whiskey), try the Maker’s Wedge with Maker’s Mark, Ginger Liqueur, pineapple and lime juice. If whiskey is your thing, it’s a good choice.

San Diego resident for over 10 years, I now call this beautiful city home. Originally from the Bay Area, I'm a California girl at heart. I love the outdoors, fitness, food, and a good craft beer (from San Diego of course).
