Grab a Burger this May for National Hamburger Month
The whole month of May is dedicated to the American classic meal choice: the hamburger. There’s nothing quite like the taste of a slab of ground beef hand-shaped into a circle by its preparer, and cooked on a grill. The classic preparation includes a bun, patty, lettuce, tomato, and onions, but variations of this traditional burger have drawn people into restaurants around the country. Although the entire month of May is dedicated to this delicious treat, May 28th in particular is observed as National Hamburger Day.
Here are a few places to grab a burger this May to celebrate:
At Slater’s 50/50, burgers are 50% ground beef and 50% ground bacon. Bring your dog to the Liberty Station location, and let them partake in burger month as well! Top your human burger with Sriracha, more bacon, pineapple, marinara, or a handful of other toppings. You can also order a California Burrito burger, with all the classic Cali burrito toppings or a PB&J burger, with you guessed it–peanut butter, strawberry jelly, and honey on top. If you haven’t checked out this eclectic menu, we’d highly recommend it.
Wait in line for a bite of the “world’s best burger.” This surf-style burger joint is known most for its Ocean Beach location, just blocks from the water. If you’re coming at a prime eating time, be prepared to wait outside until you are called up to the counter to place your order. The burgers are affordable, greasy, and the perfect way to soak up any hangover. Grab a Hodad’s sticker to place on your car or on the restaurant itself, and live the local life.
In addition to their classic, which is already incredible, Station Tavern has a Spicy Black Bean Burger that’s flavored with a lime cilantro spread. You don’t have to love meat to have a good burger–Station has something for everyone. Choose from a juicy ⅓ pound beef patty, a flavorful turkey burger, a free range chicken breast, or a chickpea-based patty.
Live life on the edge, with a burger featuring wild game. At Ty’s Burger House, expect to be wowed. Their venison and wild boar burgers are topped with poached pears and red wine. You can also order a buffalo burger with horseradish and pickle, or an elk burger with garlic aioli. Whatever adventurous trail you decide to embark on, Ty can lead you there.
Add gyro or pastrami to your burger, for an extra dose of flavor. But be warned, too many of these might result in a heart attack. This college hot spot has been serving its customers for over 30 years, and always makes sure to leave its customers full and happy. Order your burger online for quick pick-up, or choose to dine in.
