Breakfast Republic Opens in Ocean Beach

San Diego’s fastest growing breakfast concept, Breakfast Republic, opened their doors in Ocean Beach yesterday. Known for their extensive menu incorporating innovative and classic breakfast foods, branded décor and humor-cracking signage, this is the brand’s fifth location since opening in summer 2015, second to open in 2017.

Taking over the space previously occupied by OB Warehouse, ocean dwellers can start their days off with a cluck or two at the 5,000-square-foot space that boasts the same cheeky design Breakfast Republic regulars know and love (including their famous pancake whisk lights, tables painted with pun-filled quotes, and one of a kind bathroom mirror). Set on the second floor, guests can take in the view of Newport Ave from bar-style seating and huge open windows, take a seat at one of the community tables, or dine al fresco on the covered back patio.

As the largest Breakfast Republic to date, this location boasts an extended bar menu with over 20 local beers on tap, 10 kombucha flavors on tap (also available in a taster flight of four flavors), cold brew on nitro, and even champagne on tap for those morning mimosas. If you have favorite dishes from their other locations menus, not to worry! Ocean Beach will feature the same out-of-the-box creations, influenced by owner Johan Engman’s travels across the world. Popular dishes include the Shrimp & Grits Breakfast, Breakfast Bacon Mac & Cheese, and Chilaquiles. Sweet breakfast items can still be ordered as individual items or as flights, including the Churro Pancake, Cinnamon Roll Pancake, and the new Strawberry Cheesecake Pancake; French toast options include the S’mores, Lemon ‘n Coconut, and Mr. Presley (peanut butter stuffed topped with bananas fosters and bacon).
