2Good2Be: Gluten and Soy Free Cafe in RB

By  |

A new specialty restaurant is open in Rancho Bernardo, and the extensive menu is completely gluten, corn, and soy free. Whether you have food allergies, a sensitive stomach, or you’re gluten intolerant, this restaurant’s owner wants you to know that she cares— and that good food is still possible.

Founder Diana Benedek suffered for years from fibromyalgia, pain, a defective thyroid, fatigued adrenals and resulting depression until she discovered that these health problems were all the result of eating gluten, corn, and soy. Though she was plagued by these issues, she had a lot of success with her career (before founding 2Good2Be, she was an engineer). However, throughout her success Diana was never able to thoroughly enjoy her achievements because she was always having to deal with the symptoms of her health problems.

After years of pain, Diana began to visit alternative doctors to figure out why she was experiencing so many health issues, and she discovered that the root of it all was her sensitivity to gluten and soy. (Seems too simple, right?) Even Diana refused to believe it at first. In 2007, she finally began eliminating gluten and soy from her diet. Her energy came back, her pain subsided, and her mood improved dramatically.

With all of her extra energy and what felt like a new lease on life, Diana was inspired to begin 2Good2Be, which she considers to be her forum for reaching, teaching and helping people with food allergies, and for helping them to enjoy life while eating great-tasting food, in a warm and relaxing environment.

2Good2Be started as a small bakery and cafe in Encinitas. Diana quickly began to earn awards for her gluten, soy, and corn free baked goods. In 2015, 2Good2Be was a finalist in Best of San Diego’s Best Bakery and Best Desserts Categories. The cafe has won Ranch and Coasts’s San Diego’s Best Restaurant Award multiple years. The bakery also won Bridal Bazaar’s Most Surprising Cake.

In May, 2Good2Be opened up its second location in Rancho Bernardo. People from all over San Diego are already flocking to the cafe to experience the tasty, clean eats. 2Good2Be has already helped countless people feel renewed with an improved level of energy, vitality and happiness. Come and see for yourself!

The menu is full of great fare, but our favorites are the Biscuits and Gravy with Eggs for breakfast, the Chicken Caprese Panini for lunch, and the Penne and Turkey Meatballs for dinner. Do your body a favor and stop by for a bite!
