Amy Schumer is hitting Broadway in Steve Martin’s new smash comedy, “Meteor Shower” to come out at the end of November.  This will mark Schumer’s first every Broadway debut, and we are excited for what the actress, author and comedian is capable of on stage.

Schumer announced the news on Monday and called the show, “hilarious” via Twitter. Apparently, Martin asked Schumer to star in the production personally, and the two have known and been fond of each other for a very long time.

Other actors and actresses who will join Schumer on Broadway include Keegan-Michael Key who will also be making his Broadway debut and Tony winner Laura Benanti. Furthermore, Alan Tudyk who is known for his roles in Moana and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will have an important part in “Meteor Shower.”

In “Meteor Shower,” Tudyk and Schumer will play a married couple, who has another married couple (Laura and Gerald) over for dinner. Eventually, the two couples find themselves in “a marital free-fall matched in velocity and peril only by the smoldering space rocks tearing through the sky.” The play cleverly addresses the anxieties within modern marriage and is set in Ojai. Calif.

This play will be Martin’s second effort on Broadway to follow his 2016 musical titled, “Bright Star.” “Bright Star” was co-written by Edie Brickell and was a hit in the box office. The play had its world premiere at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre, and had its following production at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, CT.

Jerry Zaks will be directing “Meteor Shower’s” debut on Broadway and previews begin on Nov. 1. It is set for Nov. 29 to officially open at Booth Theater.

We will let you know if there are further updates regarding the absurdist comedy, “Meteor Shower.” In the meantime, get excited for Amy Schumer to be Broadway bound!
