Lady Gaga’s New Single “Born This Way” Out Friday
“I’m beautiful in my way, ‘cause God makes no mistakes, I’m on the right track baby, I was born this way,” the chorus reads. “Don’t hide yourself in regret, Just love yourself and you’re set, I’m on the right track baby, I was born this way.”
The song’s mantra beckons listeners to accept themselves no matter who they are, where they’re from or how people label them. Known for being teased as a teen, Gaga confidently confronts the difficulty of being considered ‘different’ and embraces both diversity and her own identity as an independent character. She encourages the perceived social outcasts and unusual alike to accept their uniqueness because, “No matter black, white or beige, chola or orient made, I’m on the right track baby, I was born to be brave.”
The fashion icon is featured on the cover of the most elite fashion magazine on earth, Vogue. Earlier today, she boldly announced via Twitter, “They used to call me rabbit teeth in school, and now I’m a real live VOGUE BEAUTY QUEEN!” Her career demonstrates that success is not marked by the judgment of society, but rather by one’s own capability of converting that judgment into motivation. What do you think of her 1920’s inspired pink bob? And the draped white Grecian goddess dress? Turns out rabbit teeth are very becoming on this Lady.
Lady Gaga’s scheduled to perform “Born This Way” at the 53rd Grammy Awards on February 13, 2011 at 8pm on the CBS Network. They will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
