The New Boyz are performing live this Thursday, March 4th at Deco’s Nightclub in the Gaslamp District of Downtown San Diego. The duo’s hit song “You’re A Jerk” has catapulted the group into stardom. Certainly a show you don’t want to miss you can buy tickets online as the event will likely sell out.

nb 8x10Currently you can hear their follow up single “Tie me Down” featuring Ray J spinning on all the local stations. The groups debut album Skinnie Jeans and A Mic brings a colorful style into the hip hop atmosphere. But what is a “jerk?”

Plaid scarfs, skinnies (skinny jeans) and colorful clothing which mark the jerk movement are becoming increasingly popular nationally. People of all ages and backgrounds are getting into the addicting beats and catchy lyrics that are the New Boyz.

The duo Ben J and Legacy met as freshman in high school in Los Angeles. Originally part of a larger collective rap group the two split off to create their solo careers. After Legacy switched to a different high school the duo decided to combine forces.

Their fashion sense and hit song “You’re A Jerk”, which was called “pretty much perfect” by the New York Times have given them a unique identity.

While the jerk movement has been gaining leverage on the underground level in Los Angeles for years, its the duo that can be credited with bringing it mainstream success. As the song “You’re A Jerk” grew in popularity on MySpace it also became a phenomenon getting played in the clubs.

Now the “jerk movement” continues to spread across all boundaries; don’t miss your chance to see it live this Thursday at Deco’s.
