NFL Week 7: West Coast AFC and NFC rivals battle this week

By  |

This week the NFL has scheduled four West Coast teams to battle it out in what all teams hope will be their turn-around victories. The San Francisco 49ers play rival Seattle Seahawks and the San Diego Chargers get another shot to keep the win streak alive against the Oakland Raiders.

San Francisco 49ers face Seattle Seahawks Thursday, Oct. 22

What a difference a couple of years make, am I right? Off season coaching and roster changes have left both teams struggling to pick up wins so far this season.  San Francisco has shows some promise on the defensive side of the ball, but stats are still dismal. One major issue has been Colin Kaepernick who has not been consistent in his ball handling, leaving the team floundering with a 2-4 record. Seattle also has had issues and comes into tonight’s game with the same 2-4 record. Their problems likely stem from releasing a number of top performers on their defensive line. This has lead to their inability to stop the passing game, which by the looks of Kaepernick, may not be a huge disadvantage this week. Seattle is favored to win this week which may help them get back on track. Kickoff is 5:25pm tonight.

San Diego Chargers face Oakland Raiders Sunday, Oct.25

The Raiders may be one of the bigger surprises for me this year. I’ll admit, I’m not a fan. But they seem to have stepped up their game a bit. They are coming into this week at 2-3, and coming off a BYE week may work to their advantage. They’ll also be playing at home, which can provide some advantages as well. The Chargers are favored in the matchup, despite their similar 2-4 record. Coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Green Bay Packers where the team (especially Rivers) played beautifully, hopes are high that the favored Bolts will come away with another victory. The game will air at 1:05 local time.

San Diego resident for over 10 years, I now call this beautiful city home. Originally from the Bay Area, I'm a California girl at heart. I love the outdoors, fitness, food, and a good craft beer (from San Diego of course).
