Government Officials Have Expressed Increased Interest in UFO Sightings

By  |

The UFO phenomenon has been gaining increased interest as of late, with three U.S. Senators reportedly being briefed by Pentagon officials about unexplained aircraft sightings over the years. This marks yet another time politicians have been receiving classified information pertaining to the phenomenon, marking freshly renewed interest into this strange topic.

The interest stems from a recently declassified trove of reports from Navy and Air Force sources. Back in 2017, the New York Times revealed the Defense Department’s secret Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, which investigated a multitude of these reports of unidentified aircraft.

In one particularly stunning sighting back in 2004, two F/A-18F Super Hornet pilots from the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz were flying 100 miles off the coast of San Diego, when a nearby ship alerted the two pilots of several unknown objects. The two Navy jets went to investigate the two objects, with the video appearing to reveal a large underwater object and a second “wingless, white” and “oblong object that seemed to hover 50 feet above the water. The video shows the two unknown objects moving erratically, unlike any currently known propulsion technology.

Videos like this have garnered increased interest from politicians into this strange phenomenon. UFO videos are often discredited simply due to the sources in which they come from. However, due to these particular situations happening to experienced military personnel, along with NYT revealing the secret Pentagon UFO program, has made congressional interest grow exponentially.

President Trump was also briefed on the situation, telling ABC News “I did have one very brief meeting on it.” He added, “But people are saying they’re seeing UFOs. Do I believe it? Not particularly.” Nevertheless, a current intelligence official who has sat in on these meetings said “There are people coming out of the woodwork. More requests for briefings are coming in.”

The UFO phenomenon has been shrouded in a veil of conspiracy-theorists and ultimately discredited folks who have muddled the reputation of the topic as simply nonsense. We could, however, be entering a new era where this topic will receive a more thorough analysis of these sightings.
