Full Lena Dunham interview with Hillary Clinton Airs Sept. 29

By  |

Female powerhouse and Girls star Lena Dunham recently sat down with Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to discuss everything from feminism to her life in college, student debt and women’s health issues. The full interview will be available on LennyLetter.com on September 29 for the site’s newsletter subscribers. Lenny Letter is a weekly newsletter that is geared at millennial women that features advice, recommendations on products, and includes essays on a variety of topics.

In a teaser clip posted on Politico, Dunham asks Clinton, “Do you consider yourself a feminist?” Clinton responds with a resounding “yes” and explains why.

Yes, absolutely. I’m always a little bit puzzled when any woman of whatever age, but particularly a young woman, says something like, “well, I believe in equal rights but I’m not a feminist.” Well, a feminist is by definition someone who believes in equal rights. I’m hoping that people will not be afraid to say, that doesn’t mean you hate men, it doesn’t mean you want to separate out the world, so you’re not a part of ordinary life. That’s not what it means at all. It just means that we believe women have the same rights as men – politically, culturally, socially, economically – that’s what it means.

The interview with Dunham is the latest in a series of media appearances Clinton has had recently. She has been interviewed by Refinery29, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
