Apple is Planning to Release a Variety of New Products This Fall
Ming-Chi Kuo, a supply chain analyst for TF International Securities, published a new research note with predictions for Apple’s fall lineup of upgraded devices. Kuo’s note claims there will be updates to the Mac and Macbook lineup, including the Mac Mini. It also claims we will see new iPads, Apple Watches, Airpods, and three new iPhone models. His predictions have been mostly accurate in the past, so let’s break down the rumors and see what we might expect from Apple in the Fall:
Macbook
The Mac lineup is due for a refresh, especially when it comes to the aging Mac Mini, a device that hasn’t seen an update since 2014. There is hope that Apple will also release an updated Macbook line with a new design for their butterfly style keyboards, which are the subject of a class action lawsuit against the tech company.
Ipad Pro
The iPad Pro is due for an update, with Face ID making its way to the popular tablet. Kuo’s note states that the iPad Pro will most likely come with a new bezel-less design similar to the one on the iPhone X, bringing the screen real estate to over 11 inches for the 10.5 version. No word on how big the 12.9 inch model will get, but we can probably expect it to compare to modern laptop screen sizes.
Apple Watch
The two Apple Watch models are said to be getting slightly larger displays, with the smaller 38mm model going from a 1.5-inch display to a 1.57-inch display, and the 42mm model will increase from a 1.65-inch to 1.78-inch. Reportedly, they are improving heart rate detection technology, as well. There is no word on whether or not Apple will increase the size of the screen, or introduce an entirely new design.
Airpods
Airpods are predicted to be getting a modest upgrade this fall, with increased wireless performance, hands-free Siri, and wireless charging capabilities. It would be realistic to expect upgraded sound performance as well, bringing them more into the realm of premium headphones.
iPhones
Finally, Apple is expected to introduce three new iPhone models to its lineup. These include an updated version of the iPhone X with a 5.8-inch OLED screen, a larger 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus OLED model, and a 6.1-inch midrange LCD model that would keep the bezel-less display and Face ID of the iPhone X, but with a more budget-friendly price point.
