If you are a fan of the Beach Boys, get ready for some exciting news. The band began performing in the 60’s and they are just not ready to call it quits. The Beach Boys will be performing at Humphrey’s by the Bay in San Diego on September 25!

The Beach Boys were made up of three brothers, Brian Wilson, Dennis Wilson and Carl Wilson, as well as their cousin Mike Love and a friend Al Jardine.

Some of their earliest albums brought a lot of influence from the lifestyle of southern California, summer, and surfing. A few of their most popular songs are “Surfin’ U.S.A,” “I Get Around,” and “Wouldn’t It Be Nice.”

The Beach boys have remained one of the most admired of the American pop bands. Performing in San Diego on the 25th will be Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s Mike Love and Bruce Johnston with members of the touring band that include John Cowsill, Tim Bonhomme, Christian Love, Scott Totten and Randell Kirsch.

This is going to be a big event so don’t miss out! Purchase your tickets soon before they are sold out.

What is your proof of Brian and Al playing with the band?

I second that question … if this is true, everyone on the Smiley Board will be there, that’s for sure! If it’s false, I’ll never buy the San Diego Entertainer again – it’s real hard to get here in Yorkshire anyway!

i hear you. brian said he was done with the beach boys long ago. but never rule out a reunionn especially with the 50th aniversary coming up. i live in new jersey and hate to fly but i would be onboard for this one. also brian’s website has no mention of this which i am sure. plus the media would be all over this one! show me proof!

Brian Wilson is long retired from the Beach Boys. He stopped touring in 1965. He’s been playing with his own band since 1989. Al Jardine is retired and rarely performs. Carl Wilson and Dennis Wilson are dead. Mike Love went to court to own the name “Beach Boys.” He tours with Bruce Johnston (both well into their 60’s) and their hired guns, including one of Mike’s sons (Sean) and John Cowsill (the Cowsills were the inspiration for the Partridge Family). They call themselves the “Beach Boys Touring Band” and play well over 100 dates a year. Their two hour show is probably better than it should be.

Too bad they didn’t invite Bruce Johnston to this reunion!

Can’t wait to see your exclusive photos of Brian, Al and Mike performing together in San Diego!

This is NOT a reunion. There is no reunion. Bruce IS with Mike and the band, and has been for many years. In fact, tonight they are playing at a casino in Shelton, Washington. The San Diego date is simply another in the more than 100 per year that Mike, Bruce and the band play. Brian Wilson and Al Jardine have not been with them and will not be with them on September 25th in San Diego, or any other date or venue. There have been rumors about a 50th year (2011) concert or tour.

No dude, the San Diego Entertainer did their research and found out about the secret reunion!
I’m from Europe and I have now quit my job and sold my house in order to be able to attend! I won’t be disappointed!

So who is Sean Love anyway, Farnorth?

I hope Inkyhack was paid for the use of that photo – can the editor of the San Diego Entertainer confirm as much -please? As a journalist, I’m increasingly concerned about sloppy journalism and unsolicited use of copyright material. In the long run it undercuts experienced, reputable writers and photographers, leading to reduced standards throughout the industry, and discredits the media as a whole.

STE…My mistake and apologies. I meant Christian Love. Sean, of course, was Mike’s late daughter and mother of Dennis’ son. Christian is actually a pretty good singer. Bob is also correct about Bruce not being included with the band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I feel that is wrong. I consider Bruce a “true” Beach Boy, certainly much more so than David Marks (also not in), but who gets credit as an original. David was only a short term fill in while Al was away., but he did make the album covers of the day. It is amazing how resiliant the Beach Boys continue to be in the media. Even Carnie got some ink this week.
